Mr. Raul Solis serves as one of the leaders of the Santo Domingo Church “Obras de Caridad” organization. Obras de Caridad is the Salvadoran equivalent of our St. Vincent DePaul Society. Obras de Caridad continues to visit the poor to deliver food, medical supplies, and other assistance. Several years ago, Raul and his team conducted a census that revealed that several hundred families did not have restroom facilities at or near their home. To respond to this need, St. Dominic raised $106,000 at Christmas 2013 for the “Simple Gifts Christmas Baño Project.” From 2013-2016, Raul and his team constructed 306 baños for families in need. One can easily spot the shiny laminate metal baños all over the entire municipality of Chiltiupan.
