The Educational Scholarships for Students of Chiltiupan (ESSOC) Program connects talented college students from Santo Domingo parish with a sponsor from St. Dominic. An annual sponsorship of $1,500 provides a deserving student with full tuition plus some additional funding for other educational expenses. In exchange for receiving this scholarship, students send a monthly correspondence to their sponsors. Many students consider their sponsors to be their Godparents.
As of 2025, 132 students are receiving full scholarships through theESSOC program. These scholars attend 16 different universities in San Salvador – a two-hour daily bus ride from Chiltiupan. Students are studying accounting, agronomy, architecture, automotive technology, aviation technology, biology, business administration, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, communications, culinary arts, economics, electrical engineering, education, English, industrial engineering, international relations, journalism, law, logistics, marketing, mathematics, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, political science, psychology, social work, andtheology.
