This is what the Lord asks of you: only this, to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8

The St. Dominic Racial Equity Task Force is inviting you to explore rooting out injustice in our parish and Catholic community by joining a three-session book discussion on Debby Irving's "Waking Up White: and Finding Myself in the Story of Race." This will be the second session of the widely acclaimed book study group that was initiated last spring in our parish. Following the Waking up White book study a survey revealed that 90% of participants strongly agreed that the experience offered them an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences of race, and they would recommend “Waking Up White” to others.

The goal of the reading and discussion is to create opportunities for members of the Saint Dominic community, of different racial backgrounds, to reflect on their own experiences of race, to learn from others through discussion, and to reflect on the teachings of our faith in the context of race.

Participants will be asked to read the book over the course of six weeks and attend each of the three discussion sessions which will take place on the following Tuesday evenings from 7 PM to 8:00 PM.
